Six Weekend Earners That Pay Out Before Monday

Sorted by how fast the money actually lands.

Side-income roundups usually promise money that shows up weeks later. The six below are sorted on one criterion: cash accessible by Sunday evening, whether that means physical notes, a cleared transfer, or a withdrawable app balance.

That criterion cuts most of the genre, because most gig platforms settle on a weekly cycle.

No. 01

Sell unused furniture locally

Three pieces, cash on pickup, same day. No listing fee on local marketplaces and no approval process to clear first, which makes this the fastest thing on the list to start.

No. 02

An afternoon of dog walking

Pet-sitting platforms generally pay out same day or next. Expect a background check before your first booking, so start the application midweek rather than Saturday morning.

No. 03

Furniture assembly for a neighbour

Task platforms pay on completion. Assembly is the highest-demand, lowest-skill category on most of them, and it prices better than it should.

No. 04

Rent out a driveway space

For a Saturday event near a venue, parking apps typically collect before the event begins, which makes this the only line here paid in advance.

No. 05

A two-hour tutoring session

Booked through a local parents' group rather than a platform, so no commission and cash on the day. Slower to find the first client, faster to get paid once you have.

No. 06

A delivery shift during the dinner rush

The catch: standard bank transfers don't settle over a weekend. Saturday earnings usually land Monday unless you use the platform's instant-payout option, which charges a fee per cashout. Include it for the earnings, plan on Monday for the money.

The Ledger

SourceEarned
Furniture sale, 3 items $140
Dog walking, one afternoon$45
Furniture assembly task$60
Driveway parking rental$25
Tutoring, two hours$40
Delivery shift, dinner rush $71
Weekend total$381

† One-time. ‡ Settles Monday unless you pay for instant payout. Worked example: one weekend, one person, US averages. The repeatable weekend figure once the furniture is gone is $241.

Read the daggers before the total. $140 of this is a one-off clear-out and $71 probably lands Monday. The honest repeatable, same-weekend number is closer to $170, which is still a good return on two afternoons but is not $381 every weekend.

The wider picture

Side income has become structural for a lot of households. LendingTree's April 2026 survey of nearly 2,050 US adults found 33% currently running a side hustle, down from 38% a year earlier and 44% in 2022, with those who do earning a record average of about $1,242 a month.

Averages mislead here, and it's worth saying so. Bankrate's own survey puts the median side-hustle income at $200 a month against an average of $885, the same respondents answering the same question, which is what a small number of high earners does to a mean. The Penny Hoarder's 2026 survey of 1,000 US adults with side hustles found three in four saying rising costs had increased their reliance on the extra income, and 53% saying they would struggle to cover essential expenses without it. Most side income is a modest supplement rather than a second salary.

Common questions

Which of these can I start with no preparation at all?

Selling unused items. There's no application, no background check and no scheduling, just photographs and a listing. Dog walking and delivery both require vetting that can take a day or two, so those need a midweek start if the weekend is the target.

Do I have to report this on my taxes?

Yes, and the thresholds moved recently in a way that catches people out. For 2026 a payment app or marketplace only has to send you a 1099-K if you cross both $20,000 in gross payments and more than 200 transactions. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act restored that threshold in July 2025, repealing the planned drop to $600 that never took effect. Separately, the 1099-NEC threshold for contract work rose from $600 to $2,000 for payments made from January 2026 onward. The catch is that none of this changes what you owe. The threshold only decides whether a form gets generated; the income is taxable either way, and net profit also carries self-employment tax on top of income tax. Higher thresholds mean less paperwork arriving and more of the recordkeeping burden sitting with you, so a running log per weekend is now more useful than it was two years ago. Some states also set lower thresholds than the federal one.

IRS Fact Sheet 2025-08, issued as IR-2025-107 on 23 October 2025: confirms that the One Big Beautiful Bill Act retroactively reinstated the pre-ARPA 1099-K threshold of more than $20,000 in gross payments and more than 200 transactions, repealing the planned $600 threshold before it took effect.
  5. Section 70433 of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act: raises the 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC information-return threshold from $600 to $2,000 for tax year 2026, inflation-indexed from 2027. A reporting threshold governs whether a form is issued, not whether income is taxable; net self-employment profit also carries self-employment tax.
